My vision on art.
- My vision on art.
Today, painters do not work anymore according to nature – making sketches takes too long, so we have to be happy with photos. But then of course you run the risk of just making a copy of a photo. I encounter many on the internet, which technically can turn out pretty nice, but it is not art to me. It is rather métier. In art, the first step is interpretation, or a total transformation, meaning an indoctrination or transformation by the mind. During this process, unconscious elements creep into the work that give it its appeal and inner layeredness. Modern art, then, often works with images that are illustrations of a meaning that wishes to be expressed. This has been salonfähig for a while, but it does not do much for me. It is too cerebral for me. I experience it rather like a good find. Just a kick from momentary recognition and that’s all. Really creating a work is still a few steps further. And then controlling it, making it aesthetic and getting it across to the viewer is still a little bit more. I see parallels with film.
An artist can also work in a very puzzling manner, when he has created his own language and uses it to talk to his audience. It is a kind of alphabet that has to be mastered and learnt before the work can be deciphered in all its fullness to penetrate into the world of the other. The same goes for my virtual worlds. And that is not always possible. Everyone has his own unique projections from his own background or world. And in a work, there are so many threads under the surface, so many unconscious symbols that it allows something to escape from its being only for a captivated viewer, laying its layeredness bare. It is like language, not only are the spoken words of importance, but also the intonation and the unconscious body language.
That is why it is not always advisable to explain the work. For a viewer, it can mean another world, from his own background, and such understanding must be possible; it is richness in abundance and diversity.
- Mijn visie op kunst
Schilders werken vandaag niet meer naar de natuur,een schets duurt te lang, dan maar een foto. Hierbij loop je natuurlijk gevaar gewoon een copie van een foto te maken, zoals ik erg veel op het internet aantref, hetgeen technisch heel knap kan uitpakken, het is gekund , maar voor mij geen kunst. Het is eerder metier.De eerste stap bij kunst is een interpretatie, of een totale transformatie, hetgeen een indoctrinatie of omvorming door de geest beduidt. Hierbij sluipen onbewuste elementen in het werk, die het zijn uitstraling en innerlijke geladenheid geven.De hedendaagse kunst werkt dan vaak met een beeld dat een illustratie van een betekenis, die wil uitgedrukt wezen , is . Dit is allang salonfähig, maar zegt me weinig.Het is me te cerebraal. Ik ervaar het meer als een goede vondst.Even de kick van herkenning en schluss. Een werk echt creëren is toch een paar stappen verder . En het dan beheersen, esthetiseren en overbrengen aan de kijker is nog wat meer.Ik zie parallellen met de film.
De kunstenaar kan ook zeer bevreemdend werken, wanneer hij een eigen taal gecreëerd heeft en die hanteert. Het is een soort alfabeth dat eerst verstaan moet worden en geleerd om het werk te ontcijferen in zijn volheid om door te dringen in de wereld van een ander. Zoals bij mijn virtuele werelden .Het vraagt een grotere inspanning van de geest. En dat is niet altijd mogelijk. Iedereen heeft zijn eigen invulling vanuit zijn eigen achtergrond of wereld. En in een werk lopen ook zoveel onderhuidse draden, onbewuste symbolen dat het alleen voor een geboeide kijker iets van zijn wezen ontsluit, zijn gelaagdheid blootgeeft. Het is zoals bij taal, niet alleen het gesproken woord geldt, ook de intonatie en de onbewuste lichaamstaal.
Daarom is het niet altijd raadzaam het werk te verklaren. Voor een kijker kan het een andere wereld beduiden , vanuit zijn achtergrond en die eigen invulling moet kunnen, is de rijkdom van veelheid , van de verscheidenheid .
- Ma vision de l’art.
De nos jours, les peintres ne prennent plus la nature pour point de départ, une esquisse requiert trop de temps, mais une photo. Ils courent alors bien évidemment le risque de simplement copier un cliché, comme je peux le voir régulièrement sur le net. Une réussite technique, certes, mais à mes yeux, il ne s’agit pas d’art mais d’un métier. La première étape artistique est l’interprétation, ou une transformation totale, un endoctrinement ou une transformation prédite par l’esprit. Des éléments se glissent alors inconsciemment dans l’œuvre, lui conférant son rayonnement et sa tension interne. L’art contemporain repose régulièrement sur une image, l’illustration d’un sens que l’on désire souligner. Cette pratique est acceptée depuis bien longtemps mais elle ne me dit pas grand chose. Elle est trop cérébrale pour moi, je la perçois davantage comme une bonne trouvaille. La sensation grisante de la reconnaissance et de l’aboutissement. La création d’une œuvre suppose cependant le franchissement de quelques étapes supplémentaires. La maîtrise, l’esthétisation et la transmission au public vont au-delà. Je vois des parallèles avec le cinéma.
L’artiste peut également se révéler profondément surprenant lorsqu’il crée et applique son propre langage. Il s’agit d’une sorte d’alphabet qu’il convient tout d’abord de comprendre et d’apprendre afin de déchiffrer l’œuvre dans son intégralité et ainsi se plonger pleinement dans l’univers d’autrui. Comme dans mes univers virtuels. Cela requiert un effort spirituel conséquent. Mais ce n’est pas toujours possible. Nous sommes toutes et tous conditionnés par notre propre milieu ou univers. Une œuvre est également caractérisée par de nombreux fils hypodermes, des symboles inconscients capables de déclencher une réaction et de mettre à nu la stratification du public passionné. Il en va de même pour les langues, non seulement le mot prononcé a son importance, mais l’intonation et l’expression corporelle sont elles aussi essentielles.
Il n’est donc pas conseillé d’expliquer l’œuvre. Elle peut représenter un univers radicalement différent pour l’un ou l’autre, en fonction de ses origines et de sa propre interprétation. Telle est la richesse de la pluralité, de la diversité.
- Vision auf Kunst
Maler arbeiten heute nicht mehr nach der Natur, eine Skizze dauert zu lange, also begnügen wir uns mit einem Foto. Dabei riskiert man natürlich, einfach eine Kopie eines Fotos zu machen: technisch ganz gut, wie so vieles, was man im Internet antrifft, aber für mich keine Kunst. Es ist vielmehr ein Métier, ein Handwerk. In der Kunst ist der erste Schritt stets eine Interpretation oder eine totale Transformation, was eine Indoktrination oder Umformung durch den Geist bedeutet. Dabei schleichen sich unbewusste Elemente in das Werk ein, die ihm seine Ausstrahlung und innerliche Aussagekraft verleihen. Die moderne Kunst arbeitet darum oft mit einem Bild, das eine Illustration einer Bedeutung ist, die zum Ausdruck gebracht werden will. Das ist zwar schon lange salonfähig, aber sagt mir wenig. Es ist mir zu zerebral. Ich empfinde es vielmehr als einen guten Fund. Ein kurzer Kick der Erkennung und Schluss. Ein Werk wirklich zu schaffen geht doch ein paar Schritte weiter. Und es dann zu beherrschen, zu ästhetisieren und dem Betrachter näher zu bringen ist noch so viel mehr. Ich sehe Parallelen zum Film.
Der Künstler kann auch sehr befremdend arbeiten, wenn er seine eigene Sprache kreiert hat und diese handhabt. Es ist eine Art von Alphabet, das erst verstanden und erlernt werden muss, um das Werk in seiner Gänze zu entziffern, um in die Welt eines anderen durchzudringen. Genau wie bei meinen virtuellen Welten. Es verlangt dem Geist mehr Anstrengung ab. Und das ist nicht immer möglich. Jeder hat seine eigene Auslegung vom eigenen Hintergrund oder der eigenen Welt aus. Und in einem Werk laufen auch so viele Fäden unter der Oberfläche, so viele unbewusste Symbole, dass es nur für das Auge des faszinierten Betrachters sein Wesen enthüllt, seine Vielschichtigkeit bloß gibt. Es ist wie bei der Sprache, nicht nur das gesprochene Wort gilt, auch der Tonfall und die unbewusste Körpersprache zählen.
Darum ist es nicht immer ratsam, das Werk zu erklären. Für einen Betrachter kann es eine andere Welt bedeuten, von seinem Hintergrund aus, und die eigene Auslegung muss möglich sein und bildet den Reichtum an Vielfalt und Verschiedenheit.

Memory is her theme: memory pictures of the inner world, experienced in the 21e century, filled with thoughts, feelings, reflections and analyses. The outside world (many times) pictures of violence of our society, colored by political and international events, selected from the media, translated in a very own painting: a Goya world, mutated in a contemporary form.

G.C Born 1942 in Kleine-Spouwen , study of Norwegian art and music in Oslo, was a professor in history an Dutch language. She studied drawing, painting and sculpturing at the academy of St-Niklaas and Hasselt and Pentiment in Hamburg
40 years of self- development, study and daily experience made her work special. It was consolidated in different series.
During many years she lived on the emerald island of Bonaire( Dutch Antilles). That’s where her astonishing colors come from, still today. She also lived for years in Hamburg where she was a member of the Seevetaler Künstler.
Since 1997 she lives and works in St-Niklaas. 4 Times she took part at het international festival of arts in Tunisie, Monastir. In St-Paulscathedral she was selected to take part in a project and an exhibition.
Her work can be seen regular in group exhibitions or solo like the last installation in September in an old gothic church with museum qualities, as well as international : The Netherlands, France, Germany, Swiss ( Zurich october) and Austria.
