for bad bots

December 14, 2014 - Gabriella Cleuren

It is impossible to sit on this chair, as the behind legs can no longer fold and can no longer serve as a support.
That is already a first form of sabotage.
In addition, this object was painted with two icons. The backrest is an eye full of nails, the all-seeing eye is blinded and consequently no longer perceives ..
On the seat, the crown icon, applied as a power of the throne of nails so pleasant sitting is impossible without injury.
It is the seat of power.

The Light symbolic.

Light is a condition for seeing. It is so normal that we are rarely conscious of it. It makes everything visible, but remains unnoticed itself. Nonetheless, it is a graphic means for the artist which she or he directs or a given which she or he copiously directs her/himself at in their work and in their observation, because it is decisive for the atmosphere and thus it announces or transfers something to the viewer, without him or her becoming aware of it. It feels nice. It gives brightness, clarity and is the bearer of old archetypal meanings which any person of any culture whatsoever intuitively feels. It stands for cleanliness, goodness, sincerity, truth, spirituality, simplicity and modesty, strength, wisdom and beauty; in short, for the divine. Thus it is positively set.

Happy in life

September 10, 2013 - Gabriella Cleuren

Happiness  is simple: warmth, sun, walking in nature. Thinking has been removed -  switched off, gone! A bouquet of flowers and the tenderness of an  animal, time switched off, peace, a beach with a man treasure hunting.  What more do you want?
The  language has been extremely simplified - the colours are bright:  yellows and browns, contrasting with bright summer blues in all kinds of  tones, encased in black and white. Shapes are composed here:  alternation between the central static figure and the agile and dynamic  shapes around it.

Brave New Old Worlds : solo exhibition SINT-NIKLAAS 2013

August 11, 2013

From 29/08/2013 until 22/09/2013
Church Sint-Nicolaas, Apostelplein 9100 Sint-Niklaas Belgium

Through my fascination for  the work of Goya, who expressed his criticism in his etchings and Black  Paintings about his contemporaries, memories, testimonies of the war  between Spain and France in the 18th and 19th centuries and the 19th century spirit of intolerance, I detect parallels with my own time. 200  years later, the human condition has barely improved. War is pervasive  and spreads across our planet like a local wildfire, but with terrible  consequences. Like biblical catastrophes, mankind destroys its  environment, its habitat, its existence, its fellow man. One only needs  to collect images to reinforce this vision, on which an installation of  my paintings has been assembled.

Lost worlds - Brittany, a rich waterworld

July 8, 2013 - Gabriella Cleuren

Brittany’s  nature is a powerful primeval element, especially the ocean that  violently crashes against the rocks and the seashore, but also leads to  magnificent beaches and islands. That fascination for sand and water is  visible in my images. The remarkable daily occurring sandy connection of  the mainland to the island of Raquenez is the theme.

The four elements

Air and earth

In my  work combining the essence of air and earth in images, both elements are  very variable, changing through each day and season. The deep dark of  winter with a cosmic light on the horizon going under the final line is  almost meditative, a final reflection of almost religious beauty that is  so meaningful for us humans.

Filled emptiness : Art Laren 2013 LAREN Netherlands

June 7, 2013

From June 14 until June 16 2013

Location : Brink Laren Netherlands

Contact with reality, life in its specific aspects is an important foundation for my work. How do you consciously create from your mind, which is necessary for my concept of my 'virtual worlds'? For this purpose you first have to fill up your battery with colour, shape, motion and composition.
